Lighthouses of Wales, Smalls Lighthouse, Pembrokeshire. (late 1993 or early 1994)

This was filmed over a few days visit in late 1993 or early 1994. The Tower had been automated in 1987. In the film you can still see the wooden stumps from the original wooden Lighthouse that had stood on this spot for 80 years. The wooden Tower was where in the early 1800's where 2 Keepers went out for their 2 months duty and were marooned for a lot longer. One Keeper died, the other kept the body to make sure he wasn't blamed for the death. When help eventually got to the Light, they found one dead Keeper and one mad one. We were told that this led to Lighthouses from then on having 3 Keepers.
