This is when the choppin' era in the black college drumline circuit had started to take off. Most HBCU lines didn't play hybrid rudiments or even a lot of the first 40 prior to the year 2000, and especially did not use tonalized bass drums. Nonetheless, the game was changing and has evolved into a high quality culture of rudimental percussion performance. I marched snare for "Platinum Forte" of Albany State University who battled Clark-Atlanta face to face at their Homecoming in 2003 which is the first thing you see on here. "Platinum Forte" was a dominant force in technical percussion play while remaining funky with beats and visuals all at the same time. We went in on 'em!
