Over the Bank Holiday period between the 23rd and 25th of May 2026, the Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway would host their annual Cotswold Festival of Steam gala event, featuring guest locomotives and a selection of the home fleet in operation over the course of the gala. The visitors for this year's edition would be ex-Caledonian Railway/BR 439 no. '15189', ex-Great Eastern Railway 0-4-0 no. '229', ex-Southern/BR unrebuilt Battle of Britain no. '34070, Manston', and BR Standard 2 no. '78022'. A last-minute addition to the gala was ex-LMS/BR Black Five 5MT no. '45110', fresh from overhaul after being sold to West Coast Railways in 2024.
There has already been enough online regarding the severe delays the railway faced during the course of the day, so I won't touch on it. Being frank: I don't think this is my best work, and it will probably be one of the weaker gala videos I've made. Nevertheless, I managed to sample what I wanted to ride, which is what I set out to do, so I accomplished on that front.
