People of Durham #62 - Zartasha Chaudhry, Whitby East Ward Regional Councillor Candidate

🎙️ Zartasha Chaudhry is running for Regional Councillor in Whitby's East Ward on October 26. She studied population health and psychology at the University of Toronto, and her work has centred on public health research and the social service sector, including work on homelessness, with faith organizations, and on food policy with the Toronto Food Policy Council and the Town of Whitby's sustainability committee. 🏡 We talk about her community work, why she decided to run regionally instead of locally, fresh faces versus experience on council, community safety and civil liberties, preventing hate crimes, and the three wins she'd focus on: affordability, reducing hate crimes and protecting civil liberties. "We need people who are informed, engaged, and are willing and able to actually bring substantial change for the people." 🔗 Connect with Zartasha Instagram / X / TikTok: [VERIFY handle – audio unclear] 🗳️ Whitby Municipal Election Election day: Monday, October 26, 2026, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Advance voting: October 22 to 25, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find your ward and voting location: whitby.ca/VOTE People of Durham shares conversations with candidates to help residents get to know them.
