What actually gets the clubhead moving fastest, right at the ball? It's not more hand speed — the difference between tour players and the rest of us is tiny (about 20-24 mph at the hands for everyone). The secret is transferring that hand speed into clubhead speed, and that means the grip has to speed up early and then slow down so the energy can sling out to the clubhead. We break it down through a real player who did everything "right" — fitness, mechanics, 14° of shaft lean — and still wasn't hitting it any farther. Using 3D Gears we show why his hand speed was maxing out AT impact (accelerating through the ball) while tour players do the opposite: the hands slow down and the elbow speeds up. That comes from rotating the trail arm — the "home plate" / "covered throw" look you see in Rory McIlroy and Sam Burns — instead of driving the elbow across the body and bowing the wrist to save the face. The result: the chest stays on top of the ball, the body keeps rotating, the face squares without the super-sensitive timing, and you get max clubhead speed with the right amount of lean (7-9° with an iron, not 14°).
