Why I won’t vote in 2027. This started with something as ordinary as going to UPTH for a dental check-up, but my experience at the hospital got me thinking about something much bigger: the problems we face as Nigerians and how much responsibility we, as citizens, have for the society we live in. We often talk about Nigerian politicians, bad leadership and government failure. But how much responsibility do ordinary Nigerians have for the problems we complain about? In this 18+ minute conversation, I share my personal experience at UPTH and the thoughts it triggered about Nigeria, our public institutions, citizenship, accountability, elections and the 2027 Nigerian election. This is not a campaign for any political party or candidate. It is a personal reflection and an attempt to have an honest conversation about the role Nigerians themselves play in shaping the country we live in. Some of the questions I explore include: • Are politicians solely responsible for Nigeria’s problems? • What responsibility do ordinary Nigerians have? • How do our everyday choices affect public institutions and society? • What does citizenship and accountability really mean? • What should Nigerians think about before the 2027 election? • Can we keep demanding better leadership without examining ourselves? My experience at UPTH was simply the starting point for a much bigger conversation. I don’t claim to have all the answers.
