A select query is among the the simplest things that one can see in action. But despite that the select statement executes in a fraction of second, there are many things that do get happen in the back end i.e. Parsing of the query, computing the cost of a query etc. This presentation is an overview about such activities that happen in the background for a select statement's execution giving the audience a more clear view about the how oracle database functions.
