In this, the third of our Planning Conversations Podcasts, we invited NZPI System Navigator Grant Eccles to speak to us about lessons that he’s taken from his planning career. Grant began practicing as a planner in 1995 and much of his career has been in the private sector. In that time Grant has accumulated a wide range of experience including being lead planner on several major infrastructure projects. He’s acted as planning advisor to three Boards of Inquiry, most notably the Board that heard the New Zealand King Salmon applications in the Marlborough Sounds which led to the pivotal King Salmon Supreme Court decision. He’s worked for Tonkin and Taylor for the past 8.5 years and is a Planning Technical Director in the Hamilton office. Grant was the genesis of the metaphor to ride ahead of the wave of RM reform. We asked Grant about how we can stay ahead of the wave, take the opportunity, and remain resilient through the process.
