Honestly, it still doesn't feel real to me, but here I am. After I beat Linkcraft XV 3 years ago, which was my hardest parkour achievement at the time (and it probably still sits at second place even now), I felt kind of done with endurance parkour. But I still wanted to push myself further in the segmented scene. I've always wanted to beat Ibis's Effort ranks, but I knew it would be unrealistic. It was generally regarded that Effort 11 was at least on par with LC XV, and 12 and 13 were each a huge jump above even that. I knew Effort 13 was never going to happen; it was the hardest segmented map at the time and is still top 4 right now. But maybe - if I got a new laptop to get around my performance issues, and if I really pushed myself - maybe I could beat Effort 11, and just maybe even 12...
And surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly, Effort 12 was one of the best maps out there. There's lots of boring segmented maps, but I think Effort 12 is memorable and fun to learn and play. I had some frustrating moments, but the experience overall was great. I recommend trying it out if you can - you'd be surprised with what you can accomplish in this map.
Of course, the map is still very hard. If Effort 11 was a lesson in practical stratfinding, Effort 12 was a lesson in perseverance. It's so easy to mindblock yourself on a jump when you're going at it over and over. I had to go back and revise strats numerous times, practice things in the creative world if I realized I was failing, and do runs of multiple jumps in a row to build consistency. Effort 12 is forgiving, but only if you put in the work.
I think my favourite checkpoint would have to be sp7-1. It's also the second hardest, and that's definitely related. Modern stratfinding has made most other checkpoints a lot easier, but sp7-1 has stood the test of time very well. The kind of redstone parkour it uses is something you'd be hard pressed to find in any 1.8 maps, and it's also the kind of parkour that you just have to learn. Despite that, it gets very consistent and is even fun to replay.
I do have a bunch of people to thank regarding this completion:
Sajato, Buffy, Phantastically, YouAreRexist, actons, and GoreMagala for being encouraging through this month-long journey
Baconerd, Jeysunn, tonton, Kakoo, Benjamaster7, and the many many other players whose strats I either knowingly or unknowingly used or iterated on
dingobird, for building the map
xulypzu and Hungtik, for beating the map with me, encouraging us to beat it together, contributing their own strats, making new strats if mine were trash, and helping me build up the Effort 12 strat sheet from nothing.
Minecraft parkour is so wonderful when you have friends to do it with.

Find the Effort 12 tab, it's way off to the right.
Apologies for the sp7-2 footage being choppy. I'm not sure why that is. Also, speaking of sp7-2, I used a forge-only rebind strat for the last jump. If that concerns you and you want to see me do it without binding one key to multiple inputs (though many other 1.12 parkourists have used this), or if you just want to see smoother footage, check this link: • effort 12 sp7-2 extra completion
