I Heard the Hammer Strike the Nail.

MY TOMB Inspired by Matthew 27:57–60, 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, and 2 Corinthians 5:10 “My Tomb” is a deeply personal reflection on the crucifixion, burial, resurrection, and the day we each will stand before the Lord. The words “my tomb” carry two meanings. Joseph of Arimathea could say them literally. Scripture tells us that Jesus was laid in Joseph’s own new tomb. But there is another meaning. The tomb is ours too. Death waits for every one of us. Christ entered the grave, but the grave could not hold Him. He was laid in my tomb. Then He rose from the tomb. And one day, I will stand before my Lord. The song moves from hearing the hammer, to seeing Christ on the tree, to the tomb, to the resurrection, and finally to the moment still ahead: Soon I’ll stand before my Lord. The repeated trembling changes along the way. At first, it is trembling before the Cross. Then before the tomb. Then before the resurrection. And finally, trembling in the glory of the Lord. This song uses a first-person spiritual perspective to bring the events of the Gospel close enough to ask: What do the Cross, the tomb, and the resurrection mean for me?
