In this special moment, spiritual soul of family members are remembered once in the festival. And it is the festival of sorrow and joy. In Newari "Tahamacha" is made and Ghitanghishi is played with leading traditional music. With this all people along with Tahamacha and Ghitanghishi rounds the whole route of Bhaktapur Municipality. Gai Jatra is also known as “Sha paru” in native Newari language, where “Sha” means “cow” and “Paru” means celebration. The whole festival is celebrated for 7 days till Krishna Janmashtami on the main street of Bhaktapur.
