Most indie films don’t die because the script is bad. They die because the filmmaker keeps waiting. Waiting for more money. Waiting for the perfect actor. Waiting for a producer to come save them. Waiting for Telefilm, a grant, an agent, a studio, or someone from “the industry” to finally say yes. I know because I did the same thing. Before making my first feature film, Remnant, I tried the traditional routes. I applied to Telefilm, CMF, Creative BC, went through agents, and tried to set the movie up through the system. Nothing happened. Eventually, I realized that if I didn’t make the movie happen myself, it was never going to happen. In this video, I break down the five biggest reasons most indie films never get made: 00:00 - Intro 01:15 - The script isn’t packaged as a movie 02:57 - The budget doesn’t match the concept 04:44 - The filmmaker can’t explain the business case 06:23 - They misunderstand what investors actually fund 07:51 - They’re waiting for permission If you’re sitting on a script and it feels stuck, this video is for you. Your movie probably isn’t dead. But the version of it you’re clinging to might be.
