The royal procession of King Jeongjo, one of the most influential kings of the late Joseon Dynasty, passes through Janganmun Gate at Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. The original procession was deeply connected to King Jeongjo’s filial devotion to his father, Crown Prince Sado, and his care for the people. The famous 1795 Eulmyo Year Royal Procession to Hwaseong was held to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Hyegyeonggung Hong, and to visit his father’s tomb, Hyeonryungwon. The 2026 reenactment follows the historical procession documented in the *Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe*, bringing the history and cultural heritage of Suwon Hwaseong to life once again.
