(ENGLISH before) NOTAS AL PROGRAMA Astur, el espíritu de las montañas es una travesía sonora a través de los estratos invisibles de las montañas y bosques de Asturias. La obra se articula como un rito iniciático donde la música deja de ser melodía para convertirse en elemento: la niebla, el viento, el agua... Estructurada en cinco secciones conectadas entre si, la composición invoca a las fuerzas primigenias del relieve asturiano. Una obra donde la arquitectura sonora se funde con el paisaje. Xuan de la Borrina (La Niebla): Espíritu ancestral que habita los velos del amanecer y el crepúsculo en las cumbres de Redes y Picos de Europa. Protege los límites entre lo conocido y lo desconocido, envolviendo el mundo en silencio y ambigüedad. El Nuberu (El Viento): El soberano de las alturas. No solo trae el viento, sino que gobierna la ira del cielo (rayos y granizo). Transporta ecos lejanos, señales y transformaciones invisibles. La Ondina del Lago (El Agua): La personificación del misterio de los lagos glaciares como Ubales. Representa la melancolía y la belleza inalcanzable de las profundidades. Su energía fluye entre hojas, raíces y claros, despertando la magia latente de la naturaleza. El Busgosu (La Montaña): El guardián absoluto de la fauna y el bosque. Es la ley de la naturaleza. Su presencia es firme y eterna, sostén del paisaje y memoria pétrea del paso del tiempo. Taranis (El Dios): El antiguo dios de los astures. Representa la rueda de la vida, el orden cósmico y el linaje guerrero que adoraba a las fuerzas de la naturaleza. Su sabiduría antigua guía, protege y conecta el presente con el origen. Astur, the Spirit of the Mountains PROGRAM NOTES Astur, the Spirit of the Mountains is a sonic journey through the invisible layers of the mountains and forests of Asturias. The work unfolds as an initiatory rite where music ceases to be melody and becomes an element: the fog, the wind, the water... Structured in five interconnected sections, the composition invokes the primordial forces of the Asturian landscape. A work where the sonic architecture merges with the landscape. Xuan de la Borrina (The Fog): An ancestral spirit that inhabits the veils of dawn and dusk on the peaks of Redes and Picos de Europa. It protects the boundaries between the known and the unknown, enveloping the world in silence and ambiguity. El Nuberu (The Wind): The sovereign of the heights. It not only brings the wind, but also governs the wrath of the sky (lightning and hail). It carries distant echoes, signs, and invisible transformations. The Undine of the Lake (Water): The personification of the mystery of glacial lakes like Ubales. She represents the melancholy and unattainable beauty of the depths. Her energy flows among leaves, roots, and clearings, awakening the latent magic of nature. The Busgosu (The Mountain): The absolute guardian of the fauna and the forest. It is the law of nature. Its presence is firm and eternal, the support of the landscape and the stony memory of the passage of time. Taranis (The God): The ancient god of the Astures. He represents the wheel of life, the cosmic order, and the warrior lineage that worshipped the forces of nature. His ancient wisdom guides, protects, and connects the present with the origin. THE MUSIC Xuan de la Borrina: the music dissolves into suspended harmonies and long notes that appear and disappear without clear direction. The use of mutes creates an opaque atmosphere that dissolves into a luminous climax. Nuberu: the music becomes energetic with the use of ostinatos in the bass and percussion, and undulating movements in the woodwinds that depict the arrival of the winds. The undine of Ubales is represented with a movement of fluid, cool textures. The piano and harp draw arpeggios that imitate the dripping of glacial water, while a solitary melody in the clarinet evokes the melancholic song of the undine. Busgosu is presented with a more rhythmic section where Celtic sounds remind us of the heavy step of the guardian of the forest. Tanaris is depicted with a solemn movement that unifies all previous themes, representing the eternity of the god and the spirit of the ancestors.
