Russia has some of the world’s largest oil reserves. Yet it is now importing gasoline from India, restricting fuel exports, lowering fuel standards, and struggling to keep its refineries operating.
This video breaks down Ukraine’s growing campaign against Russia’s fuel infrastructure — from the Volodarskaya fuel depot feeding Moscow’s three major airports to the Moscow refinery itself. We examine Russia’s refinery damage, fuel shortages, export bans, Ukraine’s claim that 51% of Russian refining capacity has been disrupted, and Putin’s own admission that the strikes have cost Russia around 1% of GDP.
But the campaign is spreading beyond fuel. Ukrainian strikes are increasingly reaching Russian airfields, air-defense systems and military infrastructure deep behind the front line — while Russia continues its own expanding drone and missile campaign against Ukrainian cities.
The bigger question is simple: How long can Russia keep its war machine running if Ukraine can increasingly reach the infrastructure that keeps it fueled?
