In Episode 4, we explore a pattern from the family of eightfold rosettes, known in Morocco as Al Ankaboutiya — the spider-web pattern, a name inspired by the web-like geometric network created as the pattern expands and repeats. The geometric construction begins with an eight-pointed star and is built around the alternation of two forms found in Moroccan zellij: the Khatem Suleimani (Seal of Solomon) and the saft. Step by step, we’ll construct the geometric unit using a ruler and compass, helping you understand the logic behind the pattern and recreate it yourself.
