Why Aren't Games Weirder?

Games used to be really weird —not to say they aren’t anymore, look at deltarune or pizza tower, but it feels like interesting and out there ideas are either toned down or completely disregarded for their sheer oddity, which I think is a shame, especially when older games really leaned into that.
