In this video, I demonstrate a detailed, step-by-step DIY guide on how to replace the rear brake discs and pads on a Renault Clio IV R.S. 200 EDC (1.6 Turbo). This vehicle features a specific European braking setup where the wheel hub bearing is integrated directly into the brake disc. This design is also highly common on many Renault, Citroen, and Peugeot models.
Why this repair requires precision:
When replacing brake discs with integrated bearings, you are replacing the wheel bearing at the same time. It is absolutely critical to protect the integrated ABS magnetic ring from damage, thoroughly clean the stub axle, and use the correct torque specifications for the main hub nut. Reusing the old hub nut is not recommended, and over-tightening it can crush the new bearing.
Parts Used in this video:
Rear Brake Discs (with integrated bearings): ATE 24.0108-0118.2
Rear Brake Pads: ATE 13.0460-2740.2
What is covered in this DIY repair guide:
Safely lifting the vehicle and removing the rear caliper and carrier bracket.
Removing the grease cap and unscrewing the main rear hub nut.
Sliding off the old brake disc assembly with its internal bearing.
Cleaning and inspecting the stub axle spindle for wear or corrosion.
Installing the premium ATE brake discs and torqueing the hub nut to factory spec.
Pushing back the caliper piston, fitting the new ATE brake pads, and final assembly.
