5 TIGERS IN ONE SAFARI
47°C heat. Nearly 8 to 9 hours in the Tadoba forests. Two dry safaris. Not a single tiger or leopard in sight.
Then, in the final hour of the third safari, everything changed.
In this episode of My Jungle Junction, Amit takes viewers into Karwa Ballarsha Territorial Zone, one of the lesser-known safari areas around Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, to discover what a tiger safari in a territorial zone is really like.
The journey begins at the Karwa Ballarsha safari gate, with an introduction to the territorial zone, its unique safari regulations, human activity around these forests, private vehicle access, local guides and the differences between a territorial safari and the more familiar core and buffer zone experience.
The first two safaris prove challenging. The forest offers tiger signs, pugmarks, tree scratches, alarm calls, waterbodies and plenty of anticipation. Shriwalli and her cubs remain the primary focus as the search continues through the scorching summer heat.
Then comes the breakthrough.
A confident Shriwalli tigress emerges from the dense forest, walking towards the safari vehicle. One cub follows her. Then another. Than a third.
The sighting becomes even more special as the tigress crosses the gypsy trail, repeatedly looking back towards her cubs before disappearing into the dense jungle.
The afternoon safari brings another dramatic turn.
Strong Sambar alarm calls begin from Erina's territory. Within minutes, the signs point towards Erina tigress. She is eventually spotted moving through the forest, marking her territory before disappearing into the thick vegetation.
After hours of waiting, tracking and scanning the forest, the final hour delivers an extraordinary reward.
Five tigers captured during the Karwa Ballarsha safari experience.
This episode offers a close look at the unpredictable nature of a Tadoba tiger safari, where hours can pass without a sighting. Pugmarks, alarm calls, scratch marks, waterbodies and animal behaviour become the clues that guide the search.
It also takes viewers inside the lesser-known world of Tadoba's territorial safari zones, showing how wildlife movement continues alongside human activity beyond the core and buffer forests.
KARWA BALLARSHA TERRITORIAL ZONE
What makes a safari through Karwa Ballarsha different?
The episode explores the Karwa Ballarsha safari gate, the territorial zone, its safari format, private vehicle access and the requirement for a local guide. It also captures the reality of travelling through a forest where wildlife movement continues alongside local human activity.
For anyone planning a Tadoba safari, this offers a fascinating look at a side of Tadoba that many visitors may never experience.
From a dry morning safari to five tigers in the final hour, this is the complete Karwa Ballarsha Tiger Safari story.
Watch till the end.
