The RF-AT12 is our mastering tape recorder, and it's free. In this video I run it on one of my own songs (piano, strings and a vocal, no drums) and go through every control, with the song playing after each one so you can hear what it does. Download Relic (12 free plugins, RF-AT12 included): https://riverfluxaudio.gumroad.com/l/... More about Relic: https://riverfluxaudio.com/relic What's in the video: 0:00 Intro 0:12 Off, then on 0:30 Record level and Auto Gain 1:00 Delta: hear only what the tape adds 1:11 Tape formulas and speed 1:37 Head width, EQ and Cal 2:13 HP and LP: tape on the mids only 2:47 Oversampling 3:03 Where to get it A few notes: Tape saturation on a master is subtle. Use good headphones or monitors, and listen to the Delta parts: that is only what the plugin adds. Auto Gain links Record and Reproduce, so when you drive the tape harder the level stays the same and you judge the tone, not the volume. HP and LP are not filters on your sound. They choose the band the tape works on. Everything outside it passes through untouched. Four tape formulas (250, 456, 900, GP9), four speeds (3.75, 7.5, 15, 30 in/s), three head widths (1/4, 1/2, 1 inch), NAB or CCIR EQ, and Cal at +3, +6 or +9 dB. Relic is free: VST3 and CLAP on Windows and Linux, VST3, CLAP and AU on macOS. If something doesn't work for you, or you have a request, write to us through the site. We read everything. #tapesaturation #mastering #freeplugins #vst #mixing
