Open a microwave door and one of its switches closes instead of opening. On a healthy oven nothing happens. If a safety switch has welded shut, that same movement blows the oven's own fuse, and the microwave stays out of action until it is repaired. This video follows the door hooks, the two interlocks and the monitor switch through a healthy opening and a failed one, then the window full of holes and the groove around the door edge that keep the microwaves inside. 00:00 The switch that closes 00:58 Hooks move the switches 02:05 The healthy opening 03:11 A welded contact 04:26 Why it stays dead 05:33 A blown fuse is a clue 06:40 The door's other job 07:49 Out of reach 09:02 Noise is not a test 10:09 Same monitor, two results Which did you expect: a monitor switch that opens with the door, or one that closes? Tell me in the comments. Safety: if your microwave runs with the door open, or the door won't close firmly or is bent or damaged, stop using it (FDA guidance). Don't defeat or tamper with the interlocks. Repairs belong to qualified service personnel; unplugging does not make the internal high-voltage capacitor safe to handle. The cutaway is illustrative and slowed down for visibility: not a specific product, and no timing or leakage claim.
