Text: 2 Samuel 2:12–5:5 In this lesson, we continue the study of 2 Samuel by looking at the difficult years between Saul’s death and David becoming king over all Israel. Though David had already been anointed by Samuel, the road to the throne was not quick or easy. The kingdom was divided, loyalties were tested, and violence continued between the house of Saul and the house of David. This section shows us that God’s promises are certain, but His people must still wait on His timing and walk with integrity while they wait. 🔹 In this lesson we study: • The conflict between the house of Saul and the house of David • Abner’s role in supporting Ish-bosheth • Joab, Asahel, and the bloodshed at Gibeon • David’s restraint and patience • The weakness of Ish-bosheth’s rule • The tribes of Israel finally coming to David • David becoming king over all Israel at Hebron 📌 Main Thought: God’s promises may unfold through a long and difficult road, but His purpose will stand. 📖 Key Scriptures: 2 Samuel 2:12–17 2 Samuel 3:1 2 Samuel 3:6–12 2 Samuel 4:1 2 Samuel 5:1–5 🧭 Main Themes: • Waiting on the Lord • The danger of selfish ambition • God’s providence in difficult circumstances • Leadership, loyalty, and integrity • The slow but certain fulfillment of God’s promises ✅ Application: David did not seize the throne by fleshly ambition. He waited while God worked. This lesson reminds us that faithfulness is not only shown when promises are fulfilled, but also while we are waiting for God to bring them about. 🙏 Thank you for watching.
