From an early age, he was an introvert and eager to know the true nature of life. So at a very young age, he became a homeless Baul and became acquainted with the secret spiritual tradition of the deserted Himalayas. His yogi guru was Swami Baulananda of Perantapalli and the sannyas guru was Ramananda Avadhuta of North Kashi. He established the "Parmananda Mission" at Banagram in Burdwan to guide the common people on the spiritual path with the inspiration of the heart. Spiritual people from all over the country and abroad used to rush to him to take lessons in life. Gradually, new ashrams started being built around him in different parts of India. For most devotees, he became the beloved 'Gurumaraj'. He was only forty-five years old when he died on November 27, 1999. But it is not possible to properly evaluate what he has done in that short time. He said that "The world does not need more religions – we need humanity".
