Dardahan - Tigran Hamasyan Piano/Synth Transcription & Playthrough

Dardahan was released on Tigran Hamasyan’s 2026 album, Manifeste. However, it was originally written and recorded during the sessions for his 2020 album, The Call Within, featuring Evan Marien on bass and Arthur Hnatek on drums. I have notated the entire piece in 20/8, representing 4 groupings of 5 as the underlying pulse (a concept Tigran utilizes frequently and excellently). This piece is a great exercise in playing “over the barline” with groupings of 5 as the main pulse. There are points where the groove changes within this frame, however the grouping numbers in the score reflect my best interpretation of the intended rhythmic structure.
