Eleven waves cross. Where two cancel, the colour drops to black, and that is what cuts the spectrum. Twelve mirrors around a centre, over a field of eleven interference sources, each riding its own closed orbit. The black is not drawn in. It is where two waves arrive out of step and delete each other, which is what gives the shards their hard edges. The hue cycles slowly underneath, so the same shard reads one colour on the way in and another on the way out. Nothing was filmed and nothing was drawn. Every frame is worked out as arithmetic first.
