Reaction/Comparison/Review - Jackie DeShannon vs The Searchers - Needles And Pins - Liverpool vs USA

This is a reaction/comparison/review of Jackie DeShannon and The Searchers performing "Needles And Pins", a song written by Sonny Bono and Jack Nitzsche. Jackie recorded the original version in 1963 and the song was released as a single. This version has a heavy acoustic guitar sound with heavy echo throughout. The melody gets you moving and Jackie's vocal is a cross between folk and rock. This is a very lively version of the song. The Searchers has that UK rock 'n' roll sound that was coming out of Liverpool in 1964. The guitars have that jangly sound similar to The Byrds. The drumming stands out with many a good fill. The vocals are done in harmony. This was the first hit record for The Searchers in the USA! Enjoy ...
