Follow the water! Mushrooms in a dry August

This August started with intense heat and drought. To find any fruiting bodies of mycorrhizal fungi, follow the water. Study the rain maps to find the areas hit by the last big thunderstorms. Look for small creeks and moist north-facing slopes. You may also find saprotrophic or parasitic mushrooms, such as the cauliflower fungus. Join me to discover what's out there, edible or not!
