🥛 MBRT (Methylene Blue Reduction Test) is a rapid test used to assess the microbial quality of milk. Methylene blue is a redox indicator. As bacteria grow, they consume oxygen and produce reducing substances. The dye is reduced and changes from blue → colourless, indicating higher bacterial activity. 🔬 Basic principle: Bacteria ↑ → O₂ ↓ → Reducing conditions ↑ → Methylene blue reduced → Blue colour disappears 🌡️ Test: Milk + MBRT solution → Incubation at 37°C → Observe decolourization time. 🎓 Useful for: • B.Tech Dairy Technology • Dairy Microbiology • Milk Quality Testing • Dairy Plant QC • Food Technology • Dairy Engineering students Resazurin Reduction Test (RRT) is generally more sensitive and gives a faster indication of milk quality than MBRT. #️⃣ Hashtags #MBRT #MethyleneBlueReductionTest #DairyMicrobiology #MilkTesting #MilkQuality #DairyTechnology #BTechDairyTechnology #Microbiology #DairyPlant
