Jiri || Gate way to Mount Everest || Switzerland Of Nepal || जिरी रमाइलो यात्रा || English Subtitles Jiri Nepal - One of the best place to visit in Nepal (AKA Switzerland of Nepal?). Jiri is a beautiful place in Jiri Municipality (Altitude of 1,905 Meters/6,250 feet) at Dolakha District, Nepal. For 2-3 decades Jiri was starting point for trekkers to the Mount Everest region. Jiri was also market hub for upper mountain areas of Dolakha, Ramechhap, Okahldhunga & Solukhumbu Districts because road from Kathmandu ended here for long time. It is also known as gate way to Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) as it is used to be the oldest route to Mount Everest. Jiri has footsteps of many tourists, trekkers, guide & porters. Famous climbers John Hunt, Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and many more had passed through Jiri. But now Jiri is almost abandoned by outsiders because of extension of roads. Jiri was set up as agricultural development center by the Swiss Government Aid in 1938 so many Swiss people came to Jiri and they started to coin Jiri as Switzerland of Nepal (Zurich). But in my opinion Jiri and Switzerland don’t match anything at all. We have been to Switzerland on 2019. and have uploaded some clips from archive videos.
