In this video, I’m showing you my Melocactus matanzanus, a beautiful dwarf species of Melocactus native to Cuba, especially the Matanzas region. Once this cactus reaches maturity, it develops a distinctive cephalium, the cap-like structure that gives Turk’s Cap Cactus its name. The cephalium produces small flowers, followed by the characteristic pink fruits containing tiny black seeds. In this vlog, I’ll show you the flowers, fruits, and seeds, including how I remove a fruit and extract the seeds. I’ll also open a fresh fruit so you can see the seeds inside. Unlike many other cacti, Melocactus does not normally produce pups or offsets, so it is mainly propagated from seed. English subtitles are also included in this vlog for viewers who prefer to watch with English subtitles. ⏱️ Timestamps: 0:00 - Introduction & Melocactus matanzanus Overview 0:32 - Turk's Cap Cephalium & Beautiful Flowers 1:05 - Harvesting Pink Fruits from Cephalium 1:33 - Melocactus Propagation & Native Origin (Cuba) 2:19 - Close-up: Flowers & Cephalium Structure 2:45 - Other Cactus Varieties in the Collection 3:15 - Extracting Fresh Seeds from Cactus Fruit 3:40 - Conclusion & Subscribe to PlantsYard If you enjoy cacti, succulents, rare plants, plant propagation, and gardening, subscribe to PlantsYard for more plant videos! #Melocactus #MelocactusMatanzanus #TurksCapCactus #DwarfCactus #Cactus #CactusFlowers #CactusSeeds #CactusPropagation #Succulents #PlantsYard
