Mata Tera Pyaar Pooja Hai

“Mata Tera Pyaar Pooja Hai” is a devotional adaptation of the Bollywood song “Saathi Tera Pyaar Pooja Hai.” The original melody is preserved, but the lyrics are rewritten so that love once directed toward a human beloved is redirected toward Mata, the Divine Mother. In this way, a familiar Bollywood tune takes on a new devotional meaning and purpose. This kind of adaptation is part of the larger history I explore in my research on Hindi film music and Indo-Guyanese devotional life, where melodies, songs, and musical styles could move beyond the cinema screen and enter religious practice in new forms. 🎶 Vocals/Harmonium: Kavita Gawrinauth🥁 Tabla: Kevin Gawrinauth
