This is the inspiring yet heartbreaking story of **Pehlwan Ramzan Saab**, the forgotten hero of Ballari, who played a significant role in the movement to retain Ballari in Mysore State during the Karnataka unification struggle. A dedicated Kannada activist and a close associate of Alavandi Shivamurthy Swamiji, Ramzan Saab worked tirelessly to mobilise public support for the inclusion of Ballari in Mysore State. On September 30, 1953, while guarding the venue prepared for the historic celebrations, he was reportedly attacked with an acid-filled bulb by miscreants. Despite suffering severe burns, he is remembered for shouting "Jai Karnataka" and attempting to chase his attackers. After battling for his life for three days, Ramzan Saab breathed his last on October 2, 1953. His sacrifice remains a powerful symbol of courage, linguistic unity and love for Karnataka.
