“The Way I Do” — Official Music Video By Julia Messenger 'The Way I Do' is about loving someone with such intensity that you can’t imagine anybody else could ever feel about them the way you do. It’s about a love that is fierce, protective and unwavering. It lives in that space between devotion and vulnerability - the kind of love that makes you want to hold someone closer when you feel them slipping away. It’s needing validation. Waiting for it. Almost obsessing over it. Loving someone so much you want to protect them, to be their shelter, to experience love deeply with them - while all the time doubting whether they love you with the same intensity. Because perhaps you can never really know how someone else feels about you. Sometimes you love someone more deeply than words can explain. And sometimes, the more afraid you are of losing someone, the more tightly you hold on. I wrote, produced and arranged this song in my Melbourne studio. This one was pretty dense to produce, but a lot of fun - heaps of programming, singing and layers! I’m so honoured to have the master David Jones drumming on this one too, as well as brilliant cellist Akito Goto, who played my string arrangement so beautifully. And a huge thank you to Bruno Ellingham for an incredible mix of a difficult song, and for the brilliant suggestion to bring the bridge forward - it made such a difference.
