Abstract painting is an investigation into the physical evolution of a substrate. In this studio session, I examine the synthesis of structural modeling media, salvaged industrial elements, and the controlled application of reactive resins to create a surface defined by deliberate decay.
This study explores the "Archaeology of the Canvas," documenting the process of forcing a crackle topography—a physical representation of structural breakdown—and integrating wooden elements to anchor the composition. By employing a rigorous layering process to simulate the authentic oxidation of metals, I aim to construct a surface that echoes the weathered history of urban environments, a concept deeply influenced by the architectural decay I encounter in my travels through Paris.
