The Singing Strikers of 1929 - Dan Weinbren

‪@CuriousHistories-h0ve‬ presents Dr Dan Weinbren's quirky tale of singing striking seamstresses. With lots of clips from the popular music used on the picket line, this is an idiosyncratic window onto flapper feminism and union politics in interwar East London. Dan's first talk for Curious Histories - on the history of public loos - is also available on our channel:    • Caught Short! A History of London's Loos -...   Lots of other 20th century peculiarities on our playlist:    • Twentieth Century Eccentricities   #flappers #1920smusic #1920sstyle #tradeunions #fashionhistory #feministhistory #jazzstandards #londonhistory More talks like this at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/curiou...
