Ricky Stoddart nets and harvests the pond holding his Miss Toyota offspring, now early nisai, and makes a very strict selection of what moves on. Along the way he checks in on his Saito Kohaku, Dainichi Toyota Hi Utsuri and the big fish pond as ponds are freed up across the farm. The episode opens on a busy Friday, with Ricky explaining how bookings for the following week are being worked around, then moving the Toyota Hi Utsuri and Saito Kohaku to free up a pond he badly needs. He shows a pond of Taniguchi Gosanke that did not make it to the growing ponds, a goldfish collection outside, and his plans for the Miss Toyota pond. In the overcrowded big fish pond he points out a Dainichi Mona Lisa Showa raised from tosai and a Karashi, one of last year's Marudos, at only two and a half years old. The Saito Kohaku then go in the bowl, where Ricky puts one at a rough guide of around 45 cm. The main harvest follows. Ricky recaps the story of Miss Toyota, the 85 cm, 4-year-old Dainichi Toyota Showa used for his first spawning in Japan last year, and nets her offspring along with some Dainichi Toyota Pandora line Hi Utsuri. He explains the hard calls in his selection, including a Niigata Utsuri rejected over a pelvic fin about 50% white, and what happens next for his "net of treasure": documenting, photographing and, over time, offering them through the auctions and the website. In the bowl he looks at the stack and structure inherited from Miss Toyota, with one coming in at 45 against his 55 to 60 target, and closes on the small number he sees as genuine tategoi level: 5 in Japan and probably no more than 10 here. 0:00 Friday catch-up and bookings 1:08 Moving the Hi Utsuri and Saito Kohaku 1:23 Taniguchi Gosanke pond 2:25 Goldfish collection outside 3:11 Plans for the Miss Toyota pond 4:38 Big fish pond: Mona Lisa Showa and Karashi 6:23 Saito Kohaku in the bowl 7:12 Netting the Miss Toyota pond 8:27 The Miss Toyota story 11:06 Dainichi Toyota Pandora line Hi Utsuri 11:26 Strict selection decisions 12:24 The net of treasure 13:20 Miss Toyota structure in the bowl 15:04 Tategoi level and closing Discover the all-in-one platform for Japanese koi.
