AMG M156 Intake Manifolds FAIL!!! (And How We Fix Them Properly)

In this video, we tear down and rebuild a Mercedes-AMG M156 intake manifold after discovering a common but rarely discussed failure point. From the factory, the M156 intake uses a thin magnesium throttle body plate inside the manifold. Over time, vibration and airflow cause that plate to wear through, creating a vacuum leak that leads to rough idle, lean conditions, drivability issues, and power loss. Instead of replacing the entire intake, we: Fully disassemble the manifold Identify the worn magnesium throttle plate Remove the failed factory design Upgrade to a thicker, precision-machined aluminum plate Reassemble the intake for a long-term, reliable solution This upgrade eliminates the weak point in the factory design and restores proper airflow, sealing, and engine performance.
