The London to Walsingham Camino, Stage 5

On 1 April I completed Stage 5 of my London-to-Walsingham Camino - 16 miles from Bishop’s Stortford to Newport. Essex continued to surprise me with its beautiful, quintessentially English villages and countryside. Some info that I picked up en route says the following about the area, called the Hundred Parishes, which covers northwest Essex, northeast Hertfordshire and southern Cambridgeshire: “The landscape, combining natural beauty with an exceptional depth of rural and architectural heritage, is probably not surpassed by any other part of the country.”
