Chinese Listening Practice for HSK 2-3 learners who want to build a simple Mandarin study routine without waking up at 5 a.m., studying for hours, or trying to create a perfect morning. In this episode of Slow Chinese Podcast, Lin and Leo explore a simple idea: What if just 10-15 minutes every morning could become your regular Chinese time? The episode begins with something many of us know very well. Leo wakes up. He picks up his phone. He tells himself: “I’ll only look for one minute.” Then he checks a message. He checks the weather. He watches one video. Another video appears. And when he looks at the time again… Twenty minutes are gone. Suddenly, he is rushing to get ready and saying: “I really don’t have time to study Chinese.” Sound familiar? This episode is not about creating a perfect morning routine. You do not need to wake up at five. You do not need to run at six. You do not need to read a book, meditate, study Chinese for an hour, and prepare a perfect healthy breakfast before work. This is about real life. Maybe you are sleepy. Maybe your morning is busy. Maybe you do not want to get out of bed. But perhaps you still have five, ten, or fifteen minutes. And that can be enough. WHY STUDY CHINESE IN THE MORNING? You do not have to study Mandarin in the morning. If evenings work better for you, that is completely fine. But mornings have one important advantage for many learners: The day has not become busy yet. Work has not fully started. Messages have not accumulated. Meetings have not started. Problems have not appeared. Your attention may still be relatively quiet. Lin compares the morning to a blank piece of paper. The day has not yet been filled with: work, meetings, calls, problems, stress, and endless small decisions. That can make the morning a useful place to give Chinese a few minutes. THE FIRST CHOICE OF YOUR MORNING What is the first thing you do after waking up? For many people: Pick up the phone. Check the time. And because the phone is already in your hand… check a message. Then check something else. Ten minutes later, you may know what your friend ate yesterday and where a complete stranger went on vacation. This is why the first small choice of the morning can matter. If your brain immediately receives messages, videos, images, news, and notifications, it becomes busy very quickly. But you can make a different first choice. For example: Listen to five minutes of Chinese before you start scrolling. You do not have to completely change your life. You only need to change one small piece of time. YOU MAY NOT NEED MORE TIME The episode tells the story of a Chinese learner named Xiaoyu. She is busy during the day. She finishes work late.
