A powerful live interpretation of Yé ké yé ké (Yeke Yeke) by Moribaya, recorded live at the Tribalanga Festival in the Podlasie region of Poland on August 15, 2026.
Deep in the forest, surrounded by nature, Moribaya brings its own unique energy to one of the most recognizable songs connected with West African music.
Yé ké yé ké became a worldwide hit through Guinean musician Mory Kanté, who adapted the song from the traditional West African piece “Yekeke.” The tradition behind Yekeke is connected with courtship and musical flirting — young people expressing attraction and interest through songs, rhythms and dance.
Rather than simply reproducing the famous international hit, Moribaya creates its own original adaptation, returning the song to a more acoustic, organic and deeply rhythmic sound. Kora, balafon, djembe and dundun meet bass guitar and live ensemble energy, creating a version rooted in West African musical traditions while remaining unmistakably Moribaya.
This performance was recorded live on the Patchouli Stage at Tribalanga Festival, an intimate summer gathering in the Polish wilderness where music, nature and people come together.
