The Family is Already an Original! Are covers holding Missioned Souls back — or are those covers actually helping build their future? In this episode of The Soulmate Journey, I take a closer look at how cover songs can shape a young band’s musicianship, interpretation, confidence, identity and eventually their own original music. Missioned Souls has spent years learning from great songs, great performances and generations of musical influence. But imitation is only the beginning. Over time, those influences become interpretation, formation and eventually something personal. We also look at artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams to understand how songwriting, performance, experience and artist development can take very different paths. Missioned Souls is developing through a family-led system in Cebu City — practicing, performing, recording, creating videos and growing together in public. The parents bring stories already lived. The children are still building the musical language they may one day use to tell their own stories. So maybe the question is not covers or originals. Maybe both are part of the same journey.
