Creative Currency #17: JG and Janaé Rachel Ballot, Writer-Director

Janaé Rachel Ballot is a Los Angeles-based writer-director who grew up in Beverly Hills immersed in the entertainment industry from a young age. After spending her early years as a dancer and actress, she transitioned behind the camera at 17, developing her voice across screenwriting, producing, and directing. Ballot made her feature directorial debut with the acclaimed 84-minute meta comedy-drama DISSOCIATED ME, which had its World Premiere at the Reykjavík International Film Festival. The deeply personal film blends fiction with fact, including a turning point shaped by Ballot being struck by a car mid-production, produced by industry veteran Elísabet Ronaldsdóttir. Ballot attended Writers Boot Camp as a Pro Member. She recalls her time being taught by Jeff Gordon as “an artistic blessing.”
