The Battle of Rotterdam - Feyenoord vs Manchester United 1997 Explained

What should have been another Champions League night in Rotterdam descended into serious trouble before, during and after the match, as Man United's Red Army and Feyenoord's SCF became involved in a series of violent confrontations. The trouble began before the match, when members of the Red Army targeted a Feyenoord pub in Rotterdam. But the response would come as United supporters arrived at De Kuip, with the SCF attacking Manchester United coaches as they made their way towards the stadium. And that was only the beginning. Inside De Kuip, the tension between the two sets of supporters continued to build. During the match, a door separating the Manchester United and Feyenoord sections was breached, bringing the rival supporters into direct confrontation and creating further scenes of disorder inside the stadium.
