What is STREET PHOTOGRAPHY?

In 2009, I took a workshop with the legendary “Magnum” photographer, Bruno Barbey. After spending a week walking the streets with Bruno, I developed a greater appreciation and respect for what Street Photography really is. My definition of street photography may be different from some, but in this video I describe the most widely recognized definition. When practiced well, Street photography approaches art in the way that it can capture an insightful document of our times, combined with the vision, instinct and skill of the passionate photographer, who has a knack for choosing the “decisive moment”, pivotal to tell a story within a single image. In this video, I show plenty of visual examples of some iconic images as well as sharing a series of some of my own personal street photographs. Thanks for watching!
