Maui Xaphoon Shelter in Place Lesson Series Aloha Everyone! Lesson 9 introduces the B Natural note, for which the left hand fingers are all closed except the left middle finger. Interestingly, when that middle finger is placed back on the hole, you have a G note. B Natural is the third note of the G scale, so by trilling, you get a G major “chord” of sorts. It is also possible to bend the trilled note as well, which is a wonderful Blues technique. The song here is Miles Davis’ “All Blues,” which is a unique and beautiful Blues in G major. While playing with the jam-along track, you will see that sometimes you use the Bb note as well, then resolve back to the G major chord (using the B Natural).
