🎶 I’M NOT THE WOMAN YOU ONCE KNEW 🎶 I wrote this song because somewhere along the way, life changed me. Not all at once, and certainly not without some painful lessons. I’ve learned that growing as a woman means accepting some hard truths. Not everyone who once had a place in my life was meant to remain there. Not everyone who claimed to care had my best interests at heart. And not everyone who knew an earlier version of me deserves access to the woman I’m becoming. There was a time when I allowed people’s opinions, expectations, and treatment of me to weigh far too heavily on my heart. I’ve since learned that my worth was never theirs to determine. Life has hardened me in some ways. I’ve become more guarded, more discerning, and much more careful about what I allow into my life. But I haven’t lost my heart, and I pray I never do. Grace is still teaching me. Teaching me how to be strong without becoming cruel, how to forgive without reopening doors that needed closing, and how to have peace without needing everyone to understand my decisions. I haven’t figured everything out. I still have growing to do, lessons to learn, and areas where the Lord continues to work on me. And I don’t despise the woman I used to be. She was doing the best she knew with what she understood at the time. But I’m grateful I don’t have to remain her. This song isn’t about bitterness, revenge, or proving anything to anyone. It’s about maturity, hard-earned wisdom, and recognizing that sometimes the greatest changes happen quietly, while you’re simply trying to make it through life. I’M NOT THE WOMAN YOU ONCE KNEW.
