How to Play MY ATMOS DEMOS in YOUR Home Theater!

This video explains how to download and play my Dolby Atmos demos on your home theater system, including which devices you can use, how to get the files onto those devices, and how to set up each playback method. My Atmos demos are available as downloadable files so you can experience the actual Atmos mix on your own system — including dynamic object movement, extensive use of height speakers, deep infrasonic bass, and mixes designed to take advantage of high-channel-count home theaters. IMPORTANT: The best playback method depends on the devices you have. In this video, I'll walk through the different playback options and show you how to get the files from download to your home theater. I've listed which devices support which file playback type. MP4 is lossy Atmos delivered via Dolby Digital Plus. MKV and M2TS are lossless Atmos delivered via Dolby TrueHD. You can also AirPlay the file to an Apple TV from a newer Mac. Alternatively, you can add the file to the TV app on your Mac and play it on Apple TV in Atmos via Shared Library. Lastly, you can download the video to the Files app, or transfer it from Photos to Files, then AirPlay it from the Files app to Apple TV and it will play in Atmos. Unlike AirPods, which can play Atmos directly from Photos or Files, Apple TV requires the Files app for AirPlay playback in Atmos. GAME SYSTEMS: Xbox Series X (MP4) COMPUTERS/LAPTOPS: Newer Macs – (MP4) HDMI from Mac to AVR: All Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, etc.) and Intel Macs from 2018 and newer can play Atmos MP4 files natively. Connect your Mac to your AVR or processor via HDMI, then select your AVR as the audio output under System Settings → Sound → Output. Open the MP4 file in QuickTime Player. Next, select View → Audio → Prefer Passthrough. Make sure your AVR/processor is set to Dolby Atmos/Dolby Surround so it can properly decode the Atmos signal. You're all set! Windows PC/Laptop - Windows Media Player + Free Dolby Access App (MP4, M2TS, MKV) - Connect PC to AVR via HDMI, install Dolby Access app. It's free and you don't need to pay for the headphone subscription it asks for. Once installed, just open the MP4/MKV/M2TS file in Windows Media Player and it will play back in Atmos through the AVR. For iPhone users you can save the MP4 to the Files app or your Photos app and listen in Dolby Atmos with your AirPods or Beats headphones. Just swipe down from the top right and hold the volume slider. It will pull up a larger volume slider with buttons underneath for noise cancellation and spatial audio. Make sure Spatial Audio is on and make sure to turn on head tracking!
