Killer’s laughter sounds like joy.
But it isn’t.
I DIDN’T CHOOSE THIS SMILE is an original Killer-inspired One Piece fan song about his friendship with Eustass Kid, the laugh he once tried to hide, becoming Kamazo in Wano, the effects of a defective SMILE, and the loyalty that remained his even when control over his own expression was taken away.

❤️ Loyalty through everything
Industrial Tango × Cinematic Post-Punk × Atmospheric Trip-Hop with dark Spanish guitar, distorted bass, cello, metallic scythe percussion and an unsettling mechanical pulse.
Before Wano, Kid and Killer were more than captain and subordinate.
They were friends.
Killer was ashamed of his unusual laugh and tried to hide it behind his mask.
Then Wano made hiding impossible.
After eating a defective SMILE, laughter could come even while he was suffering.
“I DIDN’T CHOOSE THIS SMILE!
I DIDN’T CHOOSE THIS LAUGH!”
Under Orochi’s control, Killer became Kamazo—another name, another role, another part of his life being dictated by someone else.
But Killer himself never disappeared.
Later, on Onigashima, Basil Hawkins links his own life to Kid through his straw dolls. Attacking Hawkins risks hurting Killer’s captain instead.
Until Killer notices something important:
Hawkins still has the arm Kid already lost.
Killer removes the final connection and turns the fight around.
But the emotional heart of the song isn’t victory.
It’s the people beside him.
When Killer could no longer hide his laughter, his crew didn’t abandon him for it.
They laughed alongside him.
Not because his pain was funny—
but because he was still one of them.
“You never asked me to be smiling.
You only asked me to survive.”
The world could force laughter from Killer’s mouth.
It could give him another name.
It could humiliate him.
But it could not choose who he remained loyal to.
“This smile was never mine to choose…
But this loyalty is mine.”
