Turning a Boring Suburban Yard into a Subtropical Jungle (Full Tour)

Introductory visit to the Yard To Jungle Channel backyard garden. Located in Summerville, SC, where the line of Zone 8B and 9A goes nearly straight across my property. So what to do? Permaculture Jungle Gardening! I am on a mission to eradicate every blade of grass and turn this backyard into a tropical food forest! Over the past two years, I've used about 18 to 20 free wood chip drops to bury the lawn and make way for food. If you actually enjoy cutting grass to make yourself sweat and risk a heart attack, you might want to find something better to do with your life—because around here, we let the bamboo go crazy and grow things we can eat. Join me on a full yard tour as I show off the successes and a few fails, like a very un-bountiful blueberry bush. We are checking in on sweet cherry tomatoes, strawberry guavas, winter-surviving citrus, massive Thai black bananas, awapuhi ginger, and more taro than one yard should probably hold. I'll even show off the digital bird feeder with the bat boxes up top. This channel is all about zone-pushing, heavy mulching, and trying to grow uncommon plants in a normal suburban backyard. Lets grab a perfectly gooey Little Miss Figgy right off the tree, and get started!
