Your history textbook is outdated in at least four big ways. New evidence from the White Sands footprints, Göbekli Tepe (Gobekli Tepe), Amazon LiDAR, and Neanderthal DNA has rewritten the timeline, the order, the map, and us. You probably carry a neat timeline of human history in your head: cavemen, then farming, then cities, then pyramids. But in the last 15 years, people with shovels, lasers, and lab equipment have torn big parts of it up. In this video we look at four things that got rewritten: the timeline (human footprints in New Mexico thousands of years older than expected), the order (Göbekli Tepe, a monumental site built by people who appear to have been hunter-gatherers), the map (LiDAR revealing ancient landscapes in the Amazon), and us (Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA that still lives inside many of us). I'll also share a simple test for telling a real historical rewrite from clickbait. If you enjoy stories like this, subscribe. And tell me in the comments: which history fact should we fact-check next?
